NEW:
January 26, 2010: Jacob will be teaching a workshop entitled "The Basics of Meeting participation" (Course #LLLX-0454) at Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE from 6:30-9:00pm. Here is the course description:Do you feel that your organization’s meetings are either too slow-moving to keep
your attention or too fast paced to allow thoughtful debate over the important
decisions that your organization faces? Parliamentary procedure, when used
correctly, can help solve both those problems by insisting that meetings run, from
beginning to end, according to a few basic principles that will protect the rights of
all the members in your organization. In this interactive workshop, you will acquire
and put into practice the skills necessary, utilizing Roberts Rules of Order, to
participate effectively in your meetings. Tuition is $49. See the PDF course catalog here (page 11). Registration information is here.
February 6, 2010: Jacob will be a co-instructor at the American Institute of Parliamentarian's Southern Workshop in Montgomery, Alabama. Does your organization have any of the following problems?
-
Your meetings are either too slow-moving to keep the attention of the members, or so fast-paced that members feel that decisions are “railroaded” through.
-
Your organization is expecting difficulties at an upcoming membership meeting, board meeting, or convention.
-
Your bylaws or other governance documents are out-dated, poorly written, or too confining.
-
At your last meeting, your organization got into a procedural problem that you are not sure how to correct.
If so, a professional parliamentarian is trained to help. A parliamentarian will work to ensure that organizations and their meetings run fairly and efficiently.
Jacob D. Gerber currently resides in Lincoln, NE. He is a Certified Professional Parliamentarian (CPP) and a Certified Teacher of Parliamentary Procedure (-T) with the American Institute of Parliamentarians. He is the only active CPP-T in the state of Nebraska.
